About Gustave Morin
Gustave François Morin was principally known as a painter of historicpictures, born 8 April 1809 at Rouen, where he first studied, before completing his education in Paris, where he was a student of Léon Cogniet. He exhibited at the Academy between 1833 and 1869
In 1837 Morin returned to Rouen and became Director of the Académie de dessin et de peinture de Rouen, and curator or the Rouen museum. In 1863 Gustave Morin received the Cross of the Legion of Honor. Eugénie Morin was his son.
